I’m a web designer and visual designer-turned-elearning developer-turned-UX and design systems designer. My career path has been a circuitous route and has evolved into designing and curating styles and components for design systems, which I love.
After doing some (ok, a lot of) research on making design systems my career specialty, I’ve found a bunch of resources – articles, YouTube videos, books, a few courses, and even a couple of University classes (more on these in future posts). I’ve read a lot of articles and books, watched some videos and have taken a few online courses about design systems and the tools to build them.
I learn best in a structured environment, and I’ve been trying to consolidate my learning since the resources I’ve found end up scattered in my bookmarks, on my computer, and in my head. So far, I haven’t found any one source online that could be considered a full-blown curriculum (although The UI Prep Syllabus on Design Systems and the blog on www.uiprep.com by Molly Hellmuth and Jake Tsacudakis are great resources) so I decided to make my own. This way, I can learn faster, and share what I’ve learned as I go, by writing this blog. If you’d like to learn more about design systems as well, stay tuned for more as I make design systems my specialty in my career!
